Daily rhythm

Every day at Kona Nature School follows a gentle, predictable routine that helps children feel safe and ready to explore.

8:00 – 9:00 am

Arrival & free exploration

Children arrive and settle in with open-ended nature materials, loose parts, and quiet play.

9:00 - 9:30 am

Morning circle

Songs, stories, and a look at the day ahead. We check the weather, greet the land, and set our intentions.

9:30 – 10:00 am

Kuleana in the garden

The heart of our day — hiking, gardening, creek play, tide pool visits, or forest bathing depending on the season.

10:00 – 11:00 am

Snack & rest

A nourishing snack eaten outdoors, followed by quiet rest or gentle independent play.

11:00 am – 11:30

Creative projects

Art, building, music, or storytelling inspired by the morning's discoveries in nature.

11:30 – 12:30 pm

Lunch (full day only)

Shared family-style lunch. Children help set the table, serve themselves, and clean up together.

12:30 – 2:00 pm

Rest & quiet time

Nap or quiet rest for younger children; independent reading and journaling, academics (reading & writing, maths games)

2:00 – 3:00 pm

Afternoon exploration & pickup

A second outdoor session, then a closing circle before families arrive for pickup.
